About

Homeschool Sewing And Textile Classes (8-14 yrs) Learn to sew. Discover Textiles. Homeschool Stitch Makers program builds confidence in design thinking, creative processes and technical skills. Young Makers will learn how to operate a sewing machine safely and independently, develop hand sewing techniques, solve creative and practical design problems, explore artists who work with textiles, design and complete original projects, and build confidence and perseverance through making. Classes may include garment and product making, fashion illustration, fabric and surface decoration, embroidery, felting, up-cycling, soft sculpture and contemporary fibre art. Makers are supported to build skills at their own level, develop original ideas and create work that reflects their interests and personality. What to expect: - A creative, project-based textiles program for homeschool students - Learn sewing machine skills and garment or product construction - Explore embroidery, weaving, fibre art, printmaking, dyeing and surface decoration - Build practical skills while developing creativity and problem-solving - Small class sizes with personalised support - Access to quality sewing machines, equipment and materials in a welcoming studio What's included: - All materials, including the use of sewing machines. (For larger sewing projects, students may be asked to purchase their own fabric.) - Studio art apron - Lots of creativity, encouragement and enthusiasm!


Booking Terms & Conditions

By booking a class with Makers Common, you agree to the following: - Full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your place. - Due to limited class sizes, bookings are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend due to illness, please contact us before your class and we will do our best to offer a make-up class or credit where possible, although this cannot be guaranteed. - Please ensure emergency contact details and any relevant medical or support information are provided when booking. - Makers Common reserves the right to cancel or reschedule classes if necessary. In this case, participants will be offered a transfer or full refund. Weekly Class Payments – Term 3 As Term 3 is already underway, you may book and pay for individual weekly classes through our website for the remainder of this term. From Term 4 onwards, enrolment in weekly classes will require full payment for the term at the time of booking to secure your place.
